Industry expert and CASE author Jason Fisher began his career in higher education development more than 19 years ago. Beginning at RuffaloCODY in 1990 and continuing with Advancement Solutions today, he has worked with hundreds of colleges, universities, and other nonprofit organizations in various roles to improve fundraising results. Specifically, Jason has held positions in consulting and management for phonathon and annual giving, major gifts, and executive-level operations. Jason is the co-author of The Phonathon Manager’s Planning Handbook, a recent book published by CASE that focuses on phonathon planning best practices. Jason also hosts frequent industry web seminars on phonathon and annual giving topics and is the primary author and contributor of On the Line...with Jason Fisher, a blog devoted exclusively to phonathon fundraising best practices in higher education.
Jason laid the groundwork for his career in philanthropy and development as a student caller in phonathon, using his early success to progress into the role of phonathon manager at the University of Georgia from 1995-97. During his time in Athens, the UGA phonathon experienced record-breaking results for three consecutive years, earning Jason the reputation as a leader in phonathon practices and positive, hands-on management. His accomplishments also provided him the opportunity to serve as Director of Operations for all RuffaloCODY call centers. In addition to his expertise in phonathon and annual giving, Jason worked as a major gift officer at Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. He has consulted with higher education institutions since 1997, and currently leads Advancement Solutions Consulting, a division of RuffaloCODY focused on higher education and non-profit development.
Jason understands that each institution that he consults with is unique. Therefore, he takes the time to learn the history and culture of the program during the consultation, and tailors his comprehensive recommendations through a combination of proven industry-standard techniques and innovative approaches based on his experiences that offer the best opportunity for improvements in productivity, efficiency, and stewardship.
Jason earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in business administration and political science from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and also holds a Master of Public Service degree as one of the first 35 graduates of the Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas, the newest presidential school in the United States. Jason resides in Little Rock, AR with his wife, Mandi.
