Jennifer Smedes joined RuffaloCODY in July 2010 as Vice President and Senior Consultant for the MASTERS Program for On-campus Phonathon Management, serving clients in CASE Districts I & II.  Jennifer has 15 years of fundraising experience, including 12 years in higher education; and extensive experience in all aspects of development — including major gift personal solicitation, phonathon, direct mail, leadership annual giving, parent fundraising, reunion giving, data mining and analysis, event planning, stewardship, strategic planning, and program development.

Jennifer’s first experience as a RuffaloCODY MASTERS client occurred at the University at Buffalo (UB) where she was the Director of Annual Programs.  At UB, she was responsible for the annual fund (coordinating efforts among 13 schools and colleges as well multiple units) where she solicited both restricted and unrestricted gifts for university-wide and school-based appeals via a mix of direct mail, phone-based solicitations, and e-solicitations.  Prior to her position at UB, Jennifer was the Associate Director of Annual Giving at UMass Amherst, working within another annual giving program involving multiple schools, colleges and units, as well as a 32-station phonathon and direct mail operation.  She also was responsible for overseeing the Parents Fund, Senior Campaign, and various reunion campaigns in addition to her responsibilities with planning and general operations.

Previously, Jennifer served as the Director of Annual and Reunion Giving at Pace University, and as Director of Development at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (part of the CUNY system).  Most recently, Jennifer was the Director of Development at Indiana University Southeast, a regional campus of Indiana University and a RuffaloCODY MASTERS Client.
