Brian Lauterbach, CFRE comes to RuffaloCODY with over ten years experience raising contributed support for some of the nation’s largest arts organizations. Brian is an experienced, innovative, and entrepreneurial professional with accomplished record of successful leadership in nonprofit administration. He excels at integrated marketing, development and cultivation programs with an emphasis in annual fund campaign organization, individual giving, corporate sponsorships, cause-related marketing, grant writing, board/volunteer development, special events, and organizational branding. As Principal Consultant, Brian is chiefly responsible for managing RuffaloCODY’s services for organizations throughout the United States and Canada. Brian resides in Chicago, Illinois.
Prior to joining RuffaloCODY, Brian has served as development director to the Eau Claire Regional Arts Council, the Florida Grand Opera and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. At these organizations, Brian created and directed the process redesign of annual fund and individual giving programs, integrating new cultivation and solicitation strategies. At the Detroit Symphony, Brian was responsible for the recovery of 3,800 lapsed donors and acquiring 2,100 new donors, resulting in $400,000 of new revenue to the organization’s $10.8 million annual fund.
Brian has served as fundraising counsel and has led the development and implementation of twenty-one giving campaigns in the United States. From Brian’s work, these organizations have raised nearly $110 million from over 500,000 prospects. Brian is viewed nationally as a results-driven, cutting-edge leader in direct response and individual/major gifts fundraising and serves as the annual fund/direct response track chair for Association of Fundraising Professional’s Annual Conference on Philanthropy.
Most recently, Brian served as a member of the Obama for America National Grassroots Finance Committee, a national team implementing a first-of-kind fundraising and social networking model/campaign, acquiring and activating a viral online network of 2 million+ individuals.
Additionally, Brian frequently presents at local workshops and national conferences on the subjects of fundraising innovation and technology, branding/messaging an organization’s annual fund, building online communities to support philanthropy and integrating phone, mail and email solicitations and cultivation strategies into a comprehensive annual fund and/or membership program
Brian has published the article "Getting to Win/Win: A New Look at Community Partnerships" and "The Bono Effect: Engaging a New Generation in Philanthropy" and served as a guest lecturer at Butler University and George Washington University in the subjects of philanthropic management and arts administration.
